5 ways to Promote Calm with Lavender Essential Oil

When in doubt I always reach for my Lavender oil. Lavender is the most versatile of all essential oils and has seemingly limitless applications. This calming oil can be used to soothe irritated skin, help alleviate muscle tension and headaches, ease stress and anxiety and promote a peaceful sleep.
Best Known for being calming, balancing and relaxing both physically and emotionally lavender is most commonly used to calm an active mind, working wonders for nervous feelings both physically and emotionally by providing you with comforting benefits for several areas of your body and mind.
Here's how you can use it to help you too;
5 ways to use Lavender Essential Oil to promote calm both mentally and physically.
When you both feeling stressed or overwhelmed you can get instant relaxation from just 2-3 drops of lavender oil. Rub 2-3 drop into the palms of your hands and take a minutes to breathe deeply and inhale the calming aroma to ease you mind. You can also rub 2-3 drops onto the soles of your feet, wrists or temples for further body relaxation.
By using the same technique as above when you are in bed ready to drift off will help promote a natural deep sleep. Alternatively you could add 2-3 drops onto your pillow (you can do this directly or diffuse in 125ml of water in a spray bottle and use this to spritz your pillow before bed.
Add a few drops to epsom salt and add to a warm bath for a soothing, calming and aromatic experience that will soak the stresses and tensions away.
Mix 5-6 drops of lavender oil with a nut or vegetable oil (please be aware of any allergies you may have before choosing your carrier oil). When this mixture is applied topically it can ease symptoms of eczema.
Soothe Minor Burns
In the event of a minor burn from scalding water 2-3 drops of lavender oil can be used topically to ease the pain. In many cases when lavender oil is used there is little to no redness or swelling.
Directions for use:
Place three to five drops in the diffuser of your choice or pace a drop or two into the palm of your hands, rub together, lift your hands to your nose and take some deep breaths.
Apply one or two drops to wrists, temples, soles of the feet r the desired area and dilute with a carrier oil.
Dilute one drop in 4 oz of liquid to take internally.
* Today, I am only recommending dōTERRA essential oils specifically for internal usage as I have personal experience of them. dōTERRA tests their oils like no other company, they invest an incredible amount of money into this and work very closely with the farmers to ensure the purity of the oils. Not all companies have this ability, so they can’t give the same guarantee and i would never recommend taking oils internally without doing thorough research beforehand.
